About us
The Break For Play Cooperative was conceived and organized by a group of interested parents in 1991, in response to the need for an affordable local program for mothers - and fathers - who were feeling isolated at home with young children (0-5 years old).
The basic program remains unchanged and includes free play, a parent supervised craft, snack for children and parents/caregivers, and a circle time. All materials for activities and refreshments are provided by Break For Play.
Although Runnymede Community Church provides the space for our program, we are not affiliated with the church and our co-op is open to anyone in the community.
In the spirit of building a sense of community and bridging the gap of isolation at home, Break For Play has two main goals:
The first is to provide a meeting place for parents and caregivers to meet on an informal basis, providing an opportunity for families in the community to get to know one another.
The second goal is to allow our children to play together in an unstructured setting with a parent/caregiver supervising their activities.
